Musical Monday #98

Welcome to the 98th edition of Musical Monday, the weekly quiz that Soccer Dad and I alternate hosting. As always, the challenge is to identify the title and artist of each song quote below, as well as the common theme of the entire set of songs.

All fifty songs relate to a single theme today, but it is worth noting that the last five on the list belong to a different musical genre than the rest.

And yes, I know I'm very late with the answers to last week's MM; hopefully you'll see them later today.

1) "In the stillness of remembering what you had"
2) "Pull myself together, put on a new face"
3) "Reach for the golden ring, reach for the sky"
4) "Half my life is in books' written pages"
5) "You're a princess, chains around you"
6) "Two spirits dancing so strange"

9) "There must be peace and understanding sometime"
10) "A candy-colored clown they call the sandman"
11) "Well, I can't tell lies, cause they're listening to me"
12) "Check my vital signs to know I'm still alive"
13) "What a day, a year, a laugh it is!"
14) "Wondering if Mother Earth will survive"
15) "Help me to forget today's pain"
16) "You know the preacher likes the cold"
17) "Here am I, I'm taking a chance"
18) "How to put it together, how to say it right"
19) "We've walked along St. Thomas beach a million times"
20) "You could tell I was no debutante"
21) "I feel like I'm heading up to a cardiac arrest"

31) "When you're so downhearted and misunderstood"
32) "I must be looking for something, something sacred I lost"
33) "Travel the world and the seven seas"
34) "And I know you've got the ashes to prove it"
35) "Deep water all around me, circle sharks all about"
36) "Concerning myself and the first few friends I had"
37) "First night so long, a state of mind, what can go wrong"
38) "I hit cruise control and rubbed my eyes"
39) "She took my new sunglasses and my old jean jacket"

There are 3 songs I can think of that are possibly here:

Gemini Dreams
Dream Lover
You make my dreams come true.

I kind of doubt that Toby Keith's Dream Walkin' is here, but I thought that 39 might be...

Soccer Dad: The first two are there, I somehow missed the third. And your guess is right on #39!

> Does 42 have anything to do with Thor?

:-) No, but it is by a "rock god" (as opposed to a "thunder god")!

Another bonus:

"Gone are the cares of life's busy throng"

Clayton you got one letter wrong.

Dreamboat Annie was an album of theirs. I assume it has a title track, but it wasn't a song that I've heard.

Anyone know the words to "Never dreamed you'd leave in Summer"?

At 6/23/09, 8:36 PM, Blogger Elie said...

Don't bother - I had that on the list and somehow it fell off! "Never dreamed"... that I'd lose a song to a cut and paste error!

At 6/25/09, 3:17 PM, Blogger Soccer Dad said...

29) I should have gotten this sooner:
In your wildest dreams - Moody Blues

There's still the matter of "Dream Lover," by Bobby Darrin, I believe.

Would that be 41 (with "mother" and "lover" kind-of rhyming.)

At 6/25/09, 3:36 PM, Blogger Elie said...

Dream Lover is there, but much earlier on the list.

At 6/25/09, 4:03 PM, Blogger Soccer Dad said...

28 is from the sixties, and how!

42-43, like #32, are both album title tracks from solo artists

9 - While I Can Dream - Elvis Presley
