Musical Monday #48

Welcome to the 48th edition of Musical Monday, the weekly quiz that Soccer Dad and I alternate hosting. As always, the challenge is to identify the title and artist of each song quote, as well as the common theme of the set of songs.

Here's a minor tip before you start: although my song selection is generally almost exclusively of the "classic rock" variety, today's MM has a few more exceptions than usual to that rule.

1. "I fear rivers overflowing"
2. "There and then I will make you my own"
3. "All my teeth, North and South"
4. "Heavy persuasion; it was hard to breathe"
5. "I hope my legs don't break"
6. "Let's play Twister, let's play Risk"
7. "She drifted away like the desert sand"
8. "I want to see you dance again"
9. "Here I am on my knees, begging if you please"
10. "Nothin' left open and no time to decide"
11. "With a head full of snow"
12. "You can try to resist, try to hide from my kiss"
13. "They keep things loose, they keep things light"
14. "I always get chocolate stains on my pants"
15. "Some men go crazy, some men go slow"
16. "And the wild man, he laid the thunder down"
17. "There ain't no need for watchdogs here"
18. "All you distrust, all you save"
19. "In the silence between whisper and shout"
20. "A rat done bit my sister Nell"
21. "I heard somebody whisper 'Please adore me'"
22. "There's such a lot of world to see"
23. "I ain't had no lovin' since January, February, June or July"
24. "We'll be cuddling soon"
25. "Telegraph cables, they sing down the highway"
26. "I would miss all the places and people I love"

Good luck and enjoy!

1 - Bad Moon Rising - Creedence Clearwater Revival
6 - Man On The Moon - R.E.M.
18 - Eclipse - Pink Floyd

At first glance, it seems the theme must be something about the moon.

Great job, Clayton, Soccer Dad, Lel, Gail, Hila, and Cruisin-Mom! Together, you ID'ed 13 out of 26 songs, as well as the theme, which of course was song titles mentioning the moon. As for the relevance, take your choice: The 85th anniversary this week of the Moon Mullins comic strip? The 33rd anniversary this month of Moon Knight's Marvel comics debut (August 1975 cover date, on the stands two months earlier)? But who really needs any more reason than a full moon in mid-June!
