The Ice-Day Cometh

We're in deep freeze at casa Rosenfeld today. There's been a variety of icy precipitation falling steadily since last night. The kids had their first snow day (ice day?) of the year, but unfortunately as it's a little hard to make a sleet-man, they're kind of bored and nudgy. Luckily they have the "big three" alternate activities to fall back on; Nintendo, kvetching, and hitting eachother.

Sandy likes it though - she's been out a half a dozen times today. Maybe she's part husky?

I wrote a poem on the subway this morning, on the way to work, about this delightful (ahem) weather. I'll post it as soon as I get home. Hope folks find it amusing.

We're on day five (three days last week, second this week). We don't have any snow days some years, and the natives don't know how to drive in this. Ugh!

No snow day for my kids' school today...perhaps 'cause they have a "mid-winter break" (they just went back the second week of January... They need a break already? And in three weeks is a PD Day. Hey, I can join your kids in their kvetching session!) on Friday and Monday, and tomorrow is an optional ski day for grades 6, 7 and 8.

No snow day, but pretty slow and messy roads all the same.

No snow day here. It is a chilly 44 now and is only supposed to warm up to about 76.

But tomorrow it is supposed to be a more reasonable 83.

Jack: Now you've got The Mommas and The Poppas running through my head:

"I'd be safe and warm
If I was in L.A.
California dreaming
On such a winter's day..."

You know what's scary? I *remember* that comic book!

Thanks, Elie. Glad you like my poem/song parody.

Oy. "California dreaming." Yeah, I could use some sun right about now. (A little four-part harmony is good, too, quoth this former synagogue-choir singer.)

It is actually timely considering that Doherty just passed away.
