Magical Holiday Present

I knew it!!! Or at least halfway knew it.

J. K. Rowling gave her legions of fans a holiday present today by revealing the title of the seventh and final installment of the Harry Potter series. It will be called "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows". No publication date has been announced yet - which was the other part of my prediction - but one can assume that followup will come shortly.

Following suit with previous such Harry Potter book title announcements, there will probably be an IMDB entry for a planned Book 7 movie within the next few days at the latest. With the movies for Book 5 and Book 6 scheduled for release in July 2007 and November 2008 respectively, consistent with the ~1.5 year gap between movies that's held since #2, it's a safe bet that the movie for Book 7 will be targeted for release in mid-year 2010. Something new to look forward to when we no longer can do so for the book series itself.
