Sy Syms Award Named for Aaron

The Sy Syms Stock Market Challenge is having its second annual awards ceremony today. YU has decided to name the award for Aaron, based on his fervent and stellar performance in last year's event. (You can read details here, item #13.)

I can't be there for the ceremony myself, for both practical and emotional reasons. But I extend my sincere thanks to YU, and to Aaron's high school, RTMA, for this touching and appropriate gesture.

That's a beautiful symbol of the recognition that I am certain Aaron deserves. It's wonderful to think that other young people and young minds will remember Aaron as they too engage in the Stock Market Challenge. :)

Aaron looks as if he's about to make one of his witty, somewhat sarcastic comments here, doesn't he?

Yes, that's definitely one of his patented "gimme a break" looks!

In fact, as I recounted in the birthday posting, Aaron had a good "chap" [a yiddish word that defies translation] with reference to this contest. When his new "rag-tag" team had to cram for the test in a few days, he advised them to study just the glossary of the huge prep book, not the main sections. When his friends asked, "but how do you know they'll only ask from the glossary?", he replied, with flawless logic, "do you think they have time to read all this?!" :-)

All joking aside, his performance in this contest was something Aaron was especially proud of, in a high school career of many outstanding achievements. It was also one of his last, if not the last, such.
