Saudi Yiddish

This story from a friend brought a much needed smile today.

She recently got a full-time job teaching English to foreign students at a technical college. Most of her students are Saudi. Yesterday, she taught them the verb/noun kvetch. You are a kvetch, I kvetch / you kvetch / he kvetches, etc. She's hoping it might be the new hip word in Riyadh within the year.

Note: The students don't know that my friend is Jewish. They think it's an English word.

Reminds me of this oldie but goodie! Life imitating art!

Addition: Sound bite from Prince Bandar, May 2006:

"I hate to be a kvetch, but Israel should be wiped off the map!"
