Never a Dull Moment II

Our daughter Shayna "broke" her toe yesterday. Turned out to be only a bad bruise, but we spent a couple of hours yesterday sitting in the emergency room, which killed our Sunday afternoon and also made Debbie have to cancel evening social plans, which are a rare event these days.

I realized afterwards that we were probably somewhat overreactive; in hindsight it was pretty clear that the toe wasn't broken, especially given Shayna's typical - let's call it "flair for the dramatic" - regarding aches and pains. But for obvious reasons, we have been doubting many of our tried-and-true parental instincts lately, and chose to err on the side of caution. Which I guess was the right thing to do. Still, we're starting the work week even more stressed-out than usual. Sigh.

I fractured my toe as a kid- it's quite painful but there is really nothing do to for it.
We also wasted an evening in the ER but it's better to check these things out.

It really was just a bad bump - something we would have rightly taken much less seriously when our life was less out of control.
